Ruth Jones MP is inviting everyone in Newport West and Islwyn to get involved in UK Parliament Week (UKPW), an annual event spreading the word about what Parliament is, what it does and how you can get involved.

It’s a great way to find out new things about UK Parliament or be reminded of things you might have forgotten.

This year UKPW takes place from 18 to 24 November. Youth groups, community organisations and schools across the United Kingdom have already signed up to join.

Last year more than 1.6 million people took part all over the world.

Everyone who signs up for UK Parliament Week will get a free resource kit, including a booklet (with information and activity ideas tailored for youth groups, primary and secondary schools, or adults), a ballot box, bunting and a unique Give Way card game.

As well as exploring UK Parliament and ways to get involved, this year’s UKPW throws a spotlight on the various roles and people who help to keep our Parliament running.

Ruth Jones said: “As the first-ever MP for Newport West and Islwyn, I’m encouraging people in my constituency to sign up for UK Parliament Week 2024.

“I’m looking forward to seeing many groups and organisations join in and welcome this opportunity for communities to come together to find out about our UK Parliament.”

Fran Jeens, head of education and engagement at UK Parliament, said: “UK Parliament Week is a great opportunity for people of all ages to get informed about how they can engage with UK Parliament to make a difference.

“Every year it’s fantastic to see so many people actively take part in UK Parliament Week. We look forward to lots of UKPW activities taking place in Newport West and Islwyn.”
